Millennium Property Management

Kris Deschamps takes advantage of her time away from work to enjoy the opportunities of a western Montana lifestyle. Deschamps regularly competes with her horses in reigning cow horse competitions throughout the area. Having horses on a working ranch allows Deschamps and her two young children, Gus (8) and Brianna (5), to spend plenty of time outside enjoying the splendor of the valley. She is passionate about taking the time for her family and herself saying that, “I leave work behind at the end of the day so I can enjoy my time at home”.
Deschamps quite literally stumbled into her opportunity to own and run her own business. Her husband Bryan had returned to the University of Montana working towards a business administration degree and was not working at the time that she found out her department at Shelter West was being closed. With Deschamps providing the only income at the time she was not eager to lose a job and venture out on her own. “I thought there is no way I can run my own business,” she states, adding, “it was easy to tell my husband to be confident and pursue his education, but not easy to convince myself that I could make this work.” By “this” Deschamps means Millennium Property Management the company she founded in January 2001. She was able to take the eleven properties she was currently managing through Shelter West and start her own business.
The transition was a natural one for Deschamps as she has a friendly and caring personality that helps to place people at ease with what she does as a property manager. If anything she has to warn prospective property owners that she will be soon treating their buildings as if they were her own. This level of care and commitment has seen her company grow to its current level with 28 properties that she is managing.
“I have an amazing staff that assists me in making this work”, Deschamps says, “I also have amazing property owners who care about their buildings”. It is an important element that she stresses, the fact that she wants to work with people whose goals are to successfully run and maintain their investments.
Property management services can take on a variety of options. Millennium offers a range of services from simple agreements to maintain a building, up to full service that includes paying bills, collecting rents, arranging tenants, and keeping the property looking great. “Once a business owner understands what a property manager can do for them it is generally an easy decision for them to sign on,” Deschamps states. The key to what she does is taking the emotions out of caring for your property. The decisions Deschamps makes reflect sound business sense not emotional appeal. What that translates into is her ability to get a property to make more money for the owner. While doing that she is also removing some of the headache from owning a building.
The strong commitment to making properties a success and a high level of caring for the owners best interests has allowed Kris Deschamps and Millennium Property Management to succeed well beyond what Deschamps could have envisioned back in January 2001.
