Keithley Family Chiropractic

With many choices for achieving better health in their lives, people are often surprised to hear how a chiropractor might be able to help them. Many people are hindered with common misconceptions about what a chiropractor does. “Chiropractic care isn’t just about back pain, it is more about achieving better overall health” says Dr. Alan Keithley, owner of Keithley Family Chiropractic. “Another common misconception is that we are bone doctors and we are not, rather, we are doctors of the nervous system.”
Dr. Keithley knows first hand how helpful chiropractic care can be. He began seeing a chiropractic doctor when he was in the 8th grade, following a wrestling injury. Having experienced the success of chiropractic personally, he is now helping patients achieve better health through his own skills as a chiropractor.
Dr. Keithley practices a form of chiropractic care known as Gonstead Chiropractic. This specialized method was developed by Clarence S. Gonstead in the 1920s. It is a form of chiropractic that uses a variety of tools to precisely isolate the nerve interference that is causing a patient’s symptoms. It also avoids the twisting manipulations that many people associate with chiropractic adjustments. Gonstead chiropractic care is all about being specific.
Keithley Family Chiropractic opened its doors in July 2003. Dr. Keithley, a graduate of Northwestern College, opened the practice in a building he shares with Dr. Marquardt at 1203 Mount Ave. in Missoula. Dr. Keithley found that opening his own practice has its challenges. “You think that by hanging a sign out front the people will just come” he says, “that certainly hasn’t been the case.”
In addition to running his business Dr. Keithley is an active member of the Missoula community. He is a member of the Missoula Christian Church and he donates one day a week as a chiropractor for the Volunteer Partnership Health Center. The Health Center provides low income members of the community with medical care through the generous donation of time from local medical practitioners.
